Shirley Lynch, Local CoordinatorOntario, Avon Maitland, Listowel, Goderich, Mitchell, Wingh
My name is Shirley, I have lived in the Listowel area for 40 years. My late husband and I lived on a poultry farm for 23 years, just 5 km out of town - the perfect setting to raise our 3 sons (who have blessed me with 6 grandchildren!) The farm was the perfect setting to teach our children to appreciate things like gardening, biking, walking, campfires, sleeping under the stars, skiing, and snowshoeing. Our boys also loved to play organized sports, so I held various volunteer positions on the sports teams and with other community services.
When I lost my husband, I moved closer to town. It was then that I read an advertisement looking for host families. I applied and thus began my incredible experience of hosting! Over the past 10 years, I have welcomed 17 students from all different nationalities into my home. At the same time, I worked as a host family coordinator for the local school board.
I am excited to now be a part of the MLI team, and look forward to embracing new experiences, meeting students from all over the world and working with fellow Canadian families who are eager to enriching their lives by hosting an international student.‹ Back
