Jane Banks, Homestay CoordinatorOntario, Barrie
I have been a part of Muskoka Learning International for 5 years, in the capacity of a part time Program Coordinator with groups and now a Homestay Coordinator. My background is education as I still am teaching at Georgian College for the past 28 years in the Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation Program. As a teacher I have organized and coordinated many trips for students in Canada and abroad to other countries. I have been coordinating and teaching part time in France on semester abroad programs for the past 4 years. My teaching experience has allowed me to work closely with domestic and international students. I have quite enjoyed learning from the students in their experiences, backgrounds, cultures and customs.
My family is my top priority, I have raised 3 wonderful children who still keep me very active in their lives. In my spare time I enjoy travelling and learning about new cultures.
What I love about MLI: In my role, once I have placed a student with a host family, I see and hear the wonderful stories from the Host Family and from the Student who have experienced their new Canadian family. It’s a fantastic rewarding feeling, that you were a part of making that Canadian Memory.
As a part of the MLI Homestay team in Barrie, I invite you to become a Host Family and experience the rewards of hosting.
